I am a freelance English to French translator with qualifications and experience translating, proofreading and editing all sorts of documents, such as marketing, banking, business, building industry, cosmetics, events and culture.
Native French, I have an excellent understanding of the English language, having worked and lived in the UK for 5 years.
On most of my projects I work with the CAT tool SDL Trados 2015 which allows me to work more effectively and efficiently, keep track of my work and manage special terminology databases.
Speaking and understanding a foreign language is one thing, translating is another. I believe literal translation is the common mistake young translators do, as it only weakens the meaning of the words.
I tailor the language to different criteria: the client, the targeted audience, the context, my French culture and linguistic expertise. I am meticulous in my work and always take time to research the client, the area and industry to word my translation accordingly.
As part of my continued learning and professional development, I regularly refresh my skills with courses from the City University of London or programs made available via the international network of professional translators, Proz.com, or the Syndicat Français des Traducteurs (the French Professional Translators’ Union).
